Golf & Fly Fishing Tournament

8200 Mountain Sports and the San Luis Valley chapter of Trout Unlimited are pleased to invite you to participate in the 2024 South Fork Par Fly!  A Golf & Fly Fishing Tournament held in South Fork, CO on September 26- 28, 2024

REGISTRATION

  • $500 per team must be received by Friday, September 13 at 5:00 pm mountain time.
  • One payment per team would be greatly appreciated. A 3% convenience fee will be added to credit card payments.
  • The Par Fly will not be cancelled due to inclement weather.
  • No refunds will be given after September 1, 2024.

FISHING FORMAT

  • A valid Colorado fishing license is required.
  • Fly fishing only with barbless hooks. NO other method of take will be allowed.  You may fish more than one fly at a time.
  • Beats- Teams will draw beat(s) Thursday evening. Fishing will occur on the Rio Grande and the South Fork River, roughly between the town of Del Norte, South Fork and Creede.  Fishing will occur on State and Federal public access reaches. (Expect the public to be fishing this water too)
  • Only one angler at a time is allowed to fish. The other angler is allowed to net the fish.
  • Anglers must rotate after each landed fish or after 30 minutes, whichever occurs first.
  • KEEP ‘EM WET. Please practice safe fish handling techniques.
  • One (1) point will be awarded for each Brown Trout. Two (2) points will be awarded for each Rainbow. Any other species will be awarded one (1) point.
  • You must measure and photo your largest & smallest Trout. Using the tape measure provided measure from the most forward point of the head, with the mouth closed to the farthest tip of the tail, while the fish is lying on its side. The total # of inches will be added to your total Trout Points. In the event of tie for largest fish, the Tournament Hosts will determine the winner.
  • If you are self-described as a “Pro/Expert” angler, you will be handicaped by the Tournament Hosts by subtracting 5 angling points from your teams total Trout score. If both teammates are Pro’s, then a total of 10 points will be deducted from Trout score.
  • Scores sheets must be turned in no later than 4:30 pm.
  • Tournament Hosts reserve the right to adjust the Rules prior to the start of the event.

GOLF FORMAT

  • Teams will use a two-man scramble, shotgun start format to play 18-holes of golf.

  • Mulligans will be available for purchase the morning of the event for $10/each. Limit 4 Mulligans per golfer. Only the person who purchases the Mulligan may use it. It is not a Team Mulligan.
  • Longest Drive (Men and Women).
  • Closest to the pin.
  • If you are self-described as a “Pro/Expert” golfer, you will have 5 strokes added to your teams total Golf Score. If both teammates are Pro’s, then a total of 10 points will be added to the teams total Golf Score.
  • USGA GHIN number and scoring will be utilized.
  • Tournament Hosts reserve the right to adjust the Rules prior to the start of the event.

SCORING FORMAT

  • The Tournament Hosts will subtract the team’s total Trout Score from the team’s total Golf Score. The lowest score wins.  In the event of a tie, the Largest Fish (# of inches) will be used to determine the winning team.

Thursday – September 26

EVENING

4:30pm – meet at the Rio Grande Club (0285 Rio Grande Club Tr. South Fork) for sign in, social hour, cash bar. Your valid Colorado Fishing License will be required for paperwork.

5:30pm – welcome, overview of Tournament, open the Calcutta bidding, auction off Star Beats, auction off Guided Float Fishing option (if available), draw for beats. Dinner service is available at RG Club.

8:00pm – end of day.

Friday – September 27th

FISHING

7:30am – check in at 8200 Mountain Sports. (30923 US Hwy 160. South Fork) get fishing maps & directions, stock up on supplies.

9:00am – start fishing.

12:30pm – stop fishing your morning beat and drive to your afternoon beat.

4:00pm – stop fishing.

5:00pm – anglers need to turn in fishing score cards. Happy hour, Fly Fishing Film Tour (f3t) cash bar & cash meal at LOGE South Fork (31042 US Hwy 160, South Fork)

GOLFING

9:00am – check in at the Rio Grande Club Pro Shop.  (0285 Rio Grande Club Tr. South Fork). Hit a bucket of range balls, purchase Mulligans via TU Host, if desired.

10:00am – shotgun start, 18 holes.

3:30pm – turn in scorecards to Pro Shop at RG Club.

5:00pm – happy hour, Fly Fishing Film Tour (f3t) cash bar & cash meal at LOGE South Fork (31042 US Hwy 160, South Fork)

Saturday – September 28

FISHING

7:30am – check in at 8200 Mountain Sports.  (30923 US Hwy 160. South Fork) get fishing maps & directions, stock up on supplies.

9:00am – start fishing.

12:30pm – stop fishing your morning beat and drive to your afternoon beat.

4:00pm – stop fishing.

GOLFING

9:00am – check in at the Rio Grande Club Pro Shop. (0285 Rio Grande Club Tr. South Fork). Hit a bucket of range balls, purchase Mulligans, via TU Host, if desired.

10:00am – shotgun start, 18 holes.

3:30pm – turn in scorecards to Pro Shop at RG Club.

EVENING

5:00pm – meet at the South Fork Community Building. (254 Hwy 149. South Fork). Anglers must turn in their score cards. Social hour, cash bar hosted by SLV TU.

5:30pm – dinner (included with registration fee)

6:15pm – Trout Unlimited presentation by Kevin Terry

6:30pm – recap of day’s events, Silent Auction ends, door prize handed out. Announce winning teams, award prizes, announce Calcutta winners.

8:00pm – end of the 2024 Par Fly weekend.

PRIZES

1st place team – Two Scott 9’ 5 wt. Centric fly rods.

2nd place team – Two Ross Special Edition Rio Grande Cutthroat Reels.

3rd place team – Two Fishpond Nomad Canyon Nets.

Various other prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin, longest drive- Men’s & Women’s, largest trout and smallest trout.

*A hole-in-one will automatically receive 5 yrs. worth of paid registration fees to future Par Fly events. ($2,500 value)
